Nokia relaunched the N-Gage service last month

Nokia has said it is "working on a solution" to allow people to transfer N-Gage games between handsets.

The announcement was made following anger by gamers who found out that titles bought for a handset were locked to the device forever.

Nokia said it had made the decision to lock down the system to prevent piracy and guarantee revenue for games makers.

The mobile phone maker said it was now working on an intermediate solution until a final one could be deployed.

"We acknowledge our customers' concerns and have been working on a solution that would allow people to transfer purchased N-Gage games to a new Nokia device," it said.

Nokia relaunched the N-Gage service last month

Gamers have hit out at Nokia after learning that N-Gage titles bought for their handsets are locked to that specific device forever.

If a gamer changes or upgrades to a different Nokia handset they have to purchase the games again if they want to continue playing.

The issue was uncovered by website All About N-Gage.

"It's a bad idea for everyone... the N-Gage platform, gamers and third party publishers," the site said.

Nokia said it had made the decision to prevent piracy and to ensure its "partners receive their rightful revenues from our platform".

Google wants a bigger slice of the mobile advertising market
Google has refused to deny mounting speculation that it is working to produce its own brand mobile phone.

Reports suggest that the web giant is developing a series of"GPhones", centred on its mobile services, such as search, e-mail and maps.

In a statement, Google said it was working with carriers, phone makers and content providers to "bring its services to users everywhere".

The firm would not say if its efforts included plans for a handset.

The Google statement said: "What our users and partners are telling us is that they want Google search and Google applications on mobile, and we are working hard every day to deliver that."

Commissioner Reding feels Europe needs a single standard
European officials have backed a single standard for the rollout of mobile TV services across Europe.

Telecoms commissioner Viviane Reding has called on member states to roll out services using the DVB-H standard "as quickly as possible".

Some key players have questioned why Brussels rather than the market is deciding what the standard should be.

And analysts warn it could see the UK fall behind unless regulatory issues are ironed out.

Apple's iPhone makes it to stores (218 reads)

Iphone

Apple's much-hyped iPhone has finally gone on sale in the US.

Some people had been queuing for days outside Apple and AT&T stores across the US to ensure they got hold of one of the devices.

Hundreds more began queuing during Friday because stores did not start selling the iPhone until 1800 local time (2300 BST).

Apple said buyers visiting its stores would not be able to walk out with more than two iPhones each.

More than 600 people were outside two Apple stores in New York and at one of them, customers cheered as the doors opened, Reuters news agency said.

Similar scenes were reported in other cities.

"I've gone through several phones, even the expensive ones," Albert Livingstone, 62, who queued up in Chicago, told Reuters.

"This is different. It's the newest toy. I'm 62 - I don't have much time left to buy toys."

UK Net phone service rules announced (217 reads)

Providers will be required to tell users about service limitations
Net phone service providers must be upfront about the limitations of their services, regulator Ofcom has said.

It said suppliers in the fast-growing Voice over IP (VoIP) sector must explain when selling services whether they include emergency services access.

Providers, including Skype, must also spell out other limits, including where directory listings are unavailable.

The number of UK net phone users, attracted by cheaper calls, is forecast to rise to three million by 2008.

Customers are increasingly drawn to offers which can allow free calls to friends and relatives worldwide.

Sound like a plot for a bad movie? I only wish it was….

It all started back in 1996 when I was involved in a serious R.T.A which resulted in my spine being damaged and my right wrist being shattered. I am lucky to be alive after car in which I was travelling in was hit on the side by another travelling in the excess of 95mph.

Given that I rather beaten up by this accident it somewhat put an end to my career in Computing so like many other disabled people I claimed Disability Benefit. For obvious reasons I had no problems obtaining this given the nature of my injuries.

However the fun really started when I claimed a Benefit called Disability Living Allowance.

Researchers found those men who used a phone for four hours or more a day had fewer sperm and those they had moved less well and were of poorer quality.

The Ohio study involving 364 men was presented to the American Society for Reproductive Medicine in New Orleans.
